Happy Independence Day

Quinn had a great first Independence Day! She took a great morning nap and then we headed over to my Mom's house to pick her and Auntie Em up, drop off Ella, and head down to the Brushy Creek park. Our destination: splash pad! I couldn't wait to show Quinn how much fun she could have in the water. She was a little weary at first, but she loved it. When she's older, she'll be in Heaven! Brad, Jen and Declan met us there and we all had a blast.

After a good 30 to 45 minutes at the splash pad, the kiddos were done so we all headed to Mom's house for sandwiches and homemade peach ice cream. MMMMMMM! Brad put it best when he said "this just tastes like the Fourth of July!" Declan was loving his first taste of ice cream (which I think might be his last taste for a while...sorry Brad and Jen!) Quinn had a bite, but I didn't want to push it. She was in heaven eating watermelon anyway...let's keep her ignorant of the bliss that is ice cream for a while longer.

After a fun afternoon playing at Nannie Mae's we came home, got dressed and headed down to South Congress. I was excited to see what was going on down there, but it was sort of a fail. Most the shops were closed and it was pretty dead. Boo! Oh, well. We had fun walking around, letting Quinn take in all the sights and seeing where we get the motto "Keep Austin Weird". :) We ended up at Hyde Park Bar & Grill and had an awesome meal w/ their famous french fries.

Unfortunately, Quinn is a little young to stay up for fireworks so we all turned in early. Our neighbors had fun cracking firecrackers for a while, but for the most part our neighborhood was pretty quiet after about 10:30p.m. We had a great day, and it just got me more and more excited to see Quinn grow and enjoy fun holidays like the Fourth. I think her love of watermelon is a good start!

On a side note here are a few pics from Quinn's July 3 at school. I had a photo shoot before she went to school that day.

Quinn made all the stars on their classroom "footprint flag".

The Houses

What a happy baby! What happened with Declan and the ice cream?? Do I want to know...
